52 Thomas Street at Turnberry, Brussels, Ontario N0G 1H0 — 519.498.1852
Moving from the city to a country village has enabled Terri and Peter Gray to explore possibilities, slough off limitations, and bring dreams to fruition.
The striking 1856 Brussels residence, which they purchased in 2012 was vintage-perfect for establishing a guest house offering bed & breakfast.
With Peter's skill as a caterer and Terri's experience at Cambridge's prestigious Langdon Hall, they knew how to create an idyllic atmosphere for guests.
Their attention to detail has restored The Grays to its former grandeur with heritage colours, period fixtures, luxurious linens, and comfortable furnishings, all enhancing the exquisite woodwork of its interior.
Beyond its gracious veranda just right for enjoying a cup of tea or a good book beautiful gardens welcome visitors to step back in time, to play croquet, or stroll the expansive lawn to a nook that's ideal for personal retreat time.
As hosts, Terri and Peter encourage lodgers to enjoy The Grays as a their home away from home, to settle in, make use of the entire house and property, and just let them take care of everything else.
Their goal is simple happy guests. Given the repeat visitors they've welcomed, Peter and Terri have been successful on all fronts.
Following a delicious country breakfast served on Terri's favourite china, which could be "The Grays Specialty Crepes", visitors have much to choose from in the village and area.
Whether it be the interesting walk through town to see other historic residences, the butterfly garden, the main street art gallery, historic Logan's Mill, a hike along the Stephenson Tract, fishing in the mill pond, or snowmobiling the nearby well-groomed trails, the Village of Brussels has much to offer.
Friendly local restaurants serve up home cooking for lunch and dinner, adding to the enjoyment of a getaway to Brussels.
And close by are the wonderful beaches and watery playground of Lake Huron, the Shakespearean theatre of Stratford, and many interesting towns and villages.
Quaint never goes out of style. The Grays of Brussels, Huron County's newest B & B, has everything needed for a memorable stay: comfort food, cozy beds, and scenic gardens all set in country quiet.
